How to pass your MOT
IMAGE

MOT’s aren’t always convenient but they’re important; making sure that you are operating a safe, road worthy vehicle. Part of passing your MOT is maintaining parts and fluids and with a few other measures, you can make sure you’ve taken all the necessary steps to ensure the health of your car ready for your MOT Llandudno.

Your MOT includes a range of checks throughout the car from its internal workings right through to checking the wipers so it’s great to check all these parts prior so you can be back on the road as soon as possible.

Tyres – The first thing to do is check your tire walls for any scrapes or tears. If you see any obvious cracks in the rubber, you’re at a higher risk of a blow out so be sure to change your tyre beforehand. You’re minimum tread is 1.6mm although you might need more.

Check your fluids – Open up the bonnet and check your brake fluid, oil and even your window wash so that they are filled to the ‘max’ line on your levels. If your oil is coming out as black on the dipstick, you may be due for a service.

Lights – Your headlights, brake/rear lights, indicators and fog lights all need to be working correctly in order to pass your MOT. Your mechanic can certainly provide them for you but you might be paying twice the price for something you could do at home. If you can’t get someone to check your rear lights for you, try reversing back near a wall and checking the reflection in your rearview mirror.

Wiper blades – Change your wipers if yours are leaving streaks on your windscreen. This can impair your vision of the road on a rainy day.

Keep your car clean and tidy – Keeping your car clean leaves a great impression and shows that you care about your vehicle.
